6 Days After Dr. Bermant's Revision of Other Surgeon's Inverted Nipple Surgery
To start, I was just doing a search on the web to find out more about inverted nipples and that is how I discovered your web site and saw the before and after pictures which is what I was wanting to look at. In my previous two experiences, I did not have that and I did not get the education from it. Once I made the appointment with you, and talked with you about it, you basically answered all my questions in great deal. You made me feel very comfortable and that is why I made my decision right away after the consultation to have surgery. When I had my second visit for the pre-op you went over everything again. So, I was very pleased with the education process because the last two times I’ve had this surgery done in another office, if I could give it a percentage, I would give there 50 percent compared to yours at 100 percent. I didn’t want to go back to the other surgeon.
The surgery here was much better. After the surgery, I felt fine. I only had to take Tylenol the day of surgery and then once the afternoon of the next day. I never needed any of the Lortab pills. Since that time I haven’t had to have any medications. For my first two surgeries, I believe I took strong medication every four hours the day of surgery and also into the next day. This time, my comfort level has been great. I really had no pain just soreness, tenderness. The surgery with Dr. Bermant was more convenient because I wasn’t on the medication so I felt more aware of what you told me to do. I just liked it a hundred percent better.
Dressings after surgery:
This was much better. The last surgeries had the little plastic traction and I didn’t like that because it tended to fall off and it hurt more. The dressings were not padded as much as this time and to be able to wear a bra. I was told the last time not to wear the bra.
With the prior operations, when he took the traction from it, the nipples started to go down the same day. It took two days for it to totally reinvert to the way it was. Now 6 days after your surgery, they are not reverting at all.
Sensation after surgery:
I do not think I’ve noticed numbness at all. I have normal feeling. Too much feeling because I’m not used to it.
Advice for others planning surgery:
To be well educated about it before like you did for me. The first time I went into it I didn’t know what I was getting myself into at that point. I should have researched it more. Your website helped me to feel comfortable to get it done. I wasn’t as nervous to come in. You made me aware of everything that was going to be done from step one all the way through. It just went really smooth.
7 Weeks After Dr. Bermant's Revision of Other Surgeon's Inverted Nipple Surgery
Living with inverted nipples:
When I had the inverted nipples at puberty, I thought it was normal. I didn’t know what a nipple really looked like because I was so young. I didn’t discover I was different from other women until I was in high school and then it started giving me a complex. That was it, and I just went on thinking I was normal for the most part. I didn’t have any reason to compare I wasn’t like other women until I heard women talking about little things like not wearing a bra with tank tops. Little things like that made me have a complex. I couldn’t have the same feelings or sensations that they had.
First seeing new nipples:
I like them a lot. They’re new to me because I’ve never had them before because they were inverted. They’ve always been inverted. I like the shape of them and I do notice sensation which I’ve never felt before. It’s nice.
Nipple Sensation:
Well after a shower I will feel like they’re actually, like you hear women talking about, the nipples getting hard. To me that’s what it is. It’s nice to feel like I can do that to. Before surgery if I did have sensation, I wouldn’t really notice it because it was inside and the difference is that I’m much happier with it like this. I’m much more secure in wearing a bathing suit that doesn’t have padding in it.
Nipple Shape:
The shape I’m very satisfied with the shape. They are totally fine with me and I like the way they are, round and the way there supposed to be. I’ve never really had anything to compare it to.
Dr. Bermant compared to previous nipple surgeries:
My expectations weren’t too high because of my past two experiences in other offices. I figured if this didn’t work out, I would just give up on it, to revert them. I am very happy that they stayed out as long as they have. My first experience (done with another physician) they seemed to go back in right away as soon as the dressings came off; they reverted back in maybe a week or so. The second experience was similar to that. But this experience in your office, they have stayed out.
Changes since surgery:
Some color changes because they were healing. Unlike prior surgeries, there has been no reversion. None at all.
Comfort comparison:
My comfort level was better, and I only needed to take Tylenol. It was a 100 percent better.
How was Dr. Bermant different?
Yeah, to get the information from the website. To see pictures and know that the surgeon has done this surgery before. I saw your pictures and that helped me decide that I was going to do this again. It was a much better experience with your office because I was prepared from your education that you provided me before the surgery. You went over everything so I hardly had any questions. It was great. It was a better experience because I was aware of what was going to happen than the two previous surgeries with the other doctor. Here, it went really well, just as you had discussed.
Advice to others thinking about inverted nipple surgery:
I would advise them to come see you because of the process you do with the consultation. It made me feel very comfortable in having surgery again. I wasn’t fully sure I was going to get it done before the consultation, and after the consultation I decided to get it done because of all the information you provided me.

First Time Looking At Nipples:
I’m really happy now. There just like I wanted them to look. I had my surgery Thursday, that’s six days out. I thought I would be a lot more bruised, but I’m not. My comfort level has been fine, I just took that one Lortab and two extra strength Tylenol. The gauze protection and bra just works out well.
Why have inverted nipple surgery?
I wanted to look normal, having nipples that were projecting out, the way a woman is supposed to look. For People who have this problem, I would really recommend the surgery. If you’re coming to Richmond from out of town, I would suggest staying over night the day of surgery. I didn’t think about it before surgery, but staying in town over night would have made it better. The trip from North Carolina was worth it.
I’m looking good and it so soon after surgery. Everyday gets better than the day before. I’m real pleased.

Looking at new nipples:
I’m six weeks after surgery. I like them. They’re the way they’re supposed to be. I’m more confident than I was before surgery.
Surgery was much better than I thought. I didn’t have any problems. I was prepared for the worse. The pain wasn’t bad, the scars aren’t bad. The procedure wasn’t bad at all. I really liked the website. My experience was like it told on the web site. I had local anesthesia and it was just some quick needle pricks. It was easier than I thought it would be. There’s feeling in both nipples.
If you have inverted nipples, have this surgery!

Emotions of living with inverted nipples:
I just felt abnormal. That I wasn’t like other women. Abnormal that they didn’t look like a normal woman’s nipple. They didn’t protrude. I didn’t like many people to know about the problem. In my personal relationships I would always be embarrassed.
Changes with surgery:
Now after surgery, I want everyone to see them! I don’t feel embraced about my nipples any longer. I don’t go around purposely showing them to people, but if they see them, I am not embraced about them. I feel more comfortable with my body. I feel normal, and that feels good. Now I don’t wear a bra all the time. I have sensation to the nipples. I don’t have any problems.
Surgery Experience:
It was quick, and easy, and painless. The local injections kept me comfortable. The first night of surgery, I was in a little bit of discomfort and took one half of a tablet of Lortab. I didn’t even have to take any Tylenol. It was a lot easier than I expected. It was very easy. It was surprisingly enjoyable. In the operating room, I was just chatting with the nurse and you were working on the nipples.
For those with nipple inversion:
I would recommend that they research all the information about the procedure. They should think about the reasons why they want to have the surgery, just only for the right reasons because they want to have it done. Make sure that they understand the risks. For me it was absolutely 100 percent worth it. I’m really really happy with the results and very glad that I had the surgery.

10 Days After Inverted Nipple Correction - Travel from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
First looking aft new nipples:
I’m very pleased. I do not think it was a traumatic experience to have done. It was not very painful for me.
Experience of surgery:
I think it went well. I think you have to be a relatively relaxed person know yourself well. It was perfectly fine for me. I didn’t feel any pain at all from it. I had a lot of opportunities to ask questions, and I felt very knowledgeable before the surgery. I didn’t think the needle injection was bad at all. A little bit of a burning but I had more discomfort getting my wisdom teeth out. I didn’t feel that I couldn’t handle it.
Comfort after surgery:
I really did fine with the Tylenol. I was a little bit uncomfortable for a few days after surgery. I also went back to work right away. I took one day off after surgery.
Recovery:
It’s been good. Good. The dressing came off two days after because I wasn’t careful enough in the shower. It was completely my own fault. I did fine with the dressings. In the past two days, a week following surgery, I really felt a lot better, I felt I could touch my breast area and not really think about it too much.
New nipples:
I’m really pleased with it. My actual breasts were a little bit more swollen so that was a bonus for a few days. The actual nipples are good. I would be happy if they stayed like this but there not overly big or too small. I’m happy with them.
Advice to other with inverted nipples:
I think you have to do your own research before coming into an office. Because when you add the factor of dwelling with a doctor and being in a new setting you might not have the questions right away. Do your own research; get different opinions before you come. For me the issue was nursing, and I really had to make that personal choice regardless of the shape, appearance and what was going to be. You have to be comfortable with your decision.
Travel from Pennsylvania for surgery:
The scheduling was great. Jane was completely helpful with everything, the information, finances, hotels, transportation, everything.

7 Days After Inverted Nipple Correction - Travel from Pennsylvania
First look at new nipples:
I think that they look good. They now look normal. They are protruding and no longer inverted. Before surgery, my nipples would remain out less than five minutes. Since surgery, they have never gone back in. I absolutely love my new nipples. With my new nipples out, I’m more comfortable around other people.
Comfort having the surgery:
I was very comfortable. I didn’t feel anything but the needle sticks, and they weren’t bad. My experiences pretty much matched what I thought they would be from what I read on the web. But, I didn’t think it would be this easy. I didn’t think I was going to be as comfortable as I was.

9 Days After Inverted Nipple Surgery - Travel From Florida
I like my new nipples. They are not inverted anymore. The staff was very nice and comforting. The needle for local anesthesia was needle sticks and then I didn’t feel anything for the rest of the surgery. The first night of surgery was uncomfortable. I took on Lortab and then everything was good. My experiences were very much like what I read on your website.
