Breast Reduction Mammaplasty
19 year old female felt uncomfortable with her large breast size. She suffered neck and back pain, shoulder grooving with bra, and rashes under her breast folds. She had difficulty finding clothing to wear. This patient wanted smaller breasts that were more manageable.
She had lost allot of weight to get to her present size, but found that her breasts were still very heavy and had not changed with her dieting. Breasts that are mainly glandular mass are less likely to change than ones with a higher percentage of fat.
5 feet tall, weighed 200 pounds, and wore 46DDD bra
Location surgery: Hospital operating room
Anesthesia: General
Breast tissue removed:
- 870 grams left breast
- 920 grams right breast
Stay: Ambulatory surgery up to 23 hour package.

Breast tissue is made of gland, fat, and skin. There is no question this patient was over weight. Her breasts however were very glandular. Weight reduction did not relieve her discomfort from her heavy breasts. She also had a very large bone frame for her body.

Breast sculpture on an obese patient is different than on one with little extra fat. The breast shape must contour to the surrounding tissues.
