Earlobe surgery in heavily pigmented skin can take some time for the scars to evolve and pigmentation issues to settle. Scar care after earlobe surgery is essential to minimize thickening of scars.

The blue suture is a temporary spacer that helps keep the new earring hole open during early healing. Dr. Bermant usually removes the skin sutures at about 6-8 days after surgery. The blue spacer suture may be removed (depending on the specific earlobe surgery) about 2 weeks later.
