Helix slide otoplasty fills in the defect of the rim with the remaining helix. Please start here to view photographs about this surgery. Helix skin and cartilage from the front of the ear was moved up to close the defect. Cartilage from below the defect moves up. The cartilage of the advanced helix is sewn to its new location along the scapha cartilage. Dr. Bermant then sculpts the helix skin. The anterior helix skin is then repaired in its new position. The Antia Bush Helix Slide Otoplasty bunches skin behind the ear. Dr. Bermant then sculpts this defect balancing the need to maintain blood supply. A slight excess here generally smoothes out over time.
