Suction Lipectomy Patient Photographs5 feet tall weighing 113 pounds Location Surgery: Bermant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Center (Office Operating Room) Anesthesia / Method: Tumescent Liposuction with sedation Removed: 400 cc fat 38 year old female was concerned about localized fat about the abdominal region. There is also an adherent midline scar from abdominal surgery 4 years prior. She has never been pregnant. Women can collect fat in the lower abdominal region. This fat was outside of the abdominal wall. Liposuction cannula were used to free the scared skin from the muscle wall. Tissues will continue to evolve for several months.
There was some shrinkage of the redundant loose skin.
Liposuction results are often evident even as the patient finishes surgery. Here at 6 weeks after surgery the initial swelling is almost gone. The tissues will continue to evolve over several months. By six months most of the changes will have happened.
Loose skin is not well managed by liposuction alone. The skin often shrinks to a certain degree. How much depends on many factors. Mini tuck abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery are better ways to manage excessive skin and loose muscles. This patient chose to have liposuction only. After waiting to see how the skin shrinks, she will then decide about possible skin resection.
