Swiss Therapy Aftercare Rhinoplasty
Surgery
While extensive rhinoplasty can easily result swelling and bruising,
Dr. Bermant designs your care after surgery to minimize these problems.
You can help before surgery by avoiding Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and other
such medication or herbal substances that can increase bruising. Shortly
after the operation in the operating room or recovery, Dr. Bermant applies
a gel cooling mask (Swiss Therapy) to your face. This mask cools the eyelids
and tissues about the nose. It is light, clear, and gooey feeling. It
cools by evaporation and by being chilled before application. Dr. Bermant's
staff will give you 2 of these masks. One to wear while the other is being
cooled.
| The Swiss Therapy hydrocolloid cooling mask can minimize swelling
and bruising. Dr. Bermant recommends that his patients also elevate
their back, neck and head after surgery at least 45 degrees after
surgery. |

|
You will have to hydrate the mask to keep it from drying out while the
water evaporates. Although each case is different, the therapy seems to
help for about 2 days after surgery. You will be given specific instruction
to help in your recovery.
