Acne rosacea can be red and oily. If the light reflects off the oily skin it can get shiny. I cannot comment about your case without an examination.

Rosacea
Hello My name is Jennifer and IM 20yrs old. What would the costs and process be of removing the red lines on cheeks from rosacea be..

Plastic surgery is not like taking an eraser to a drawing. Some deformities of roseacea can be improved with plastic surgery. For some problems there is no reasonable plastic surgery. There are many possible options that would need to be evaluated during a consultation. Price, if there is a plastic surgical option, would depend on what needed to be done.

Need Help with Rosacea
I have a mild case of Rosacea with redness of the tip of the nose. I have tried all kinds of medication, (myocine, Roacutane) and they have subsided the rosacea but have not rid the redness that is still with me. What should I do? Is there any type of laser surgery that can help rid the redness of the nose? I am 28 yrs old and very healthy except the red nose.

Hopefully you are under the care of a competent dermatologist or internist. They have examined you, what do they say? I cannot render an opinion without an examination and evaluation. Sometimes a laser can improve redness, but not in all cases. Sometimes the best control is just to suppress the disease. Other options are discussed after a consultation in my office, but I need to see the problem first.

Rhinophyma laser & bleph
Dr. I am considering a CO2 lazer for rhinophyma and would appreciate some answers as to how safe it is and possible length of time for recovery and at the same time possibly remove bags under my eyes. what should I expect in the way of costs. pain and ability to care for myself after surgery please give me whatever information you think would benefit me in making this decision. thank you

There are many ways to treat rhinophyma. Most require removing the outer layers of the thickened tissue. I have not been pleased with the laser treatment for the more severe versions of this condition.
The laser is good for a mild amount of redundant skin under the eyes. "Bags under the eyes" usually means there is a major amount of extra skin under the eyes. Surgery redraping the muscles and extra skin is often the better form of treatment for major skin / muscle remodeling - not laser.
Without examining you, I cannot really comment. These questions you ask are very reasonable, but for the doctor who has recommended that form of treatment. The use of the laser significantly adds to the cost of that method of treatment. If you have not had a consultation and evaluation, may I suggest that you do so before selecting the type of treatment. Our patients have these questions addressed during our office discussions.

Rhinophyma
Dear Dr Bermant,
I would like some advice regarding "Rhinophyma". My condition is very mild, however, I am concerned it may worsen as I get older. I am 31 years old. I work in an engineering company in the UK and providing I stay out of the works area my nose does not swell. However, should I walk around in the oily atmosphere, my nose tip swells and stays like that for days. As you can imagine it is very embarrassing. I would therefore be very grateful if you could suggest any ways in which I can prevent this swelling. I have tried many creams etc without much success.
Please could you e-mail me on your suggestions. I would be very grateful.
Thanks
R

Rhinophyma can be very embarrassing, you are not the only person to have these problems. Early rhinophyma may not need surgical intervention, but there are distinct advantages to be under the care of a good doctor who manages this disease. A Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist may be able to direct you, after an examination and evaluation, to some medication to minimize the advancement of this condition. If the creams and lotions you have tried were on your own, see what a consultation helps with your education.

Rhinophyma
dr.-
is rhinophyma related to excessive alcohol consumption? if so, will symptoms dissipate when one stops drinking?

Rhinophyma (acne rosacea) was once thought to be caused by excessive alcohol ingestion. No consistent causative factor has been identified. Excessive alcohol consumption will cause other problems.
